About Eshlyn

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here.

Experience

  • Certified Early Childhood Educator and Specialist in Singapore

  • My 9-years experience spans from teaching children in international and local preschools, special needs schools, inclusive schools and enrichment centres.

  • Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education and a certification in teaching English Language

Methodology

  • I specialise in Sensory play and integration.

  • I believe that sensory play helps children to hone in concepts intellectually (improve IQ), develop physical skills (gross/fine) and be creative and emotional-resilient thinkers (improve EQ).

  • My mission is to help parents meet their child’s needs and wants through the sensory system and using EQ language to communicate and raise children with morally strong values.

Why Sensory Play?

  • I resonate so much with sensory play because through sensory play, children can become whoever they want to be.

  • For example, in our classes, if they want to be an elephant, we will wear elephant shoes (tissue boxes), dip our feet in paint and we go stomping on a large sheet of paper.

  • This enhances creativity and imagination and at the same time helps their gross motor skills.

  • All this happens while children are having fun without even realising it! They get to increase their cognitive skills and emotional skills through experiential play!

Why My Work Matters:

In the past, as millennials, we grew up during the time where where our parents struggled to survive and bring food to the table, as such, they had little time for us growing up. There was also a lot of emphasis on education and being first in school because education was seen as the only way to “succeed in life”.

With a strict upbringing and parenting by our parents, some of us received few affections or affirmations as we grew up. This resulted in self-esteem issues and perhaps affected our academic results.

Therefore, in our growing years, we had to navigate through tough parenting styles, unlearn the meaning of “success” (it’s not what we can do but rather who we are as persons), unconditioned ourselves from our parental/societal standards and reclaim our identity as adults.

Now, as we become parents ourselves, we want to parent differently from how we were parented as a child.

We want to raise our toddlers:

  • with positive discipline instead of punishment

  • using positive language instead of sarcasm and negativity

  • intentionally connecting with them instead of leaving them to play with their toys on their own

  • and finally to be compassionate, kind and helpful to others and the world around them.

HOWEVER,

  • Millennial parents are relying on duo-income to make a living and children are increasingly exposed to screen time because parents are just so busy

  • BUT, Millennial parents still desire to play and make time for their children amidst their busy schedule.

My Solution

  • I created The Millennial Parenting Program because I want to help Millennial Parents to create time and space for their child to build cognition and emotional skills using sensory play and eq language at home.

Why is The Millennial Parenting Program best for you?

#1: My expertise and skills as an educator

  • When I became an educator, I learnt many ways and strategies to raise children respectfully and lovingly.

  • I rewired my brains and my speech to communicate more positively with children so that I will be raising children’s spirits instead of tearing it down.

  • In the last 9 years (and counting), I’ve worked with over 120 children and toddlers with varying characters, behaviours and sensory needs.

#2: My background & education in the field

  • I was trained in social work and early childhood education. This helped me to understand child’s brain development and their overall growth.

#3: ME :)

  • I really care about toddlers and raising a new generation of children who are seen as who they are and giving them a voice.

  • I see it as my mission to help parents become better parents. :)

  • I’m also a fun & loving person who cares deeply about humanity.
